Plein Sud was created in the spring of 2020 as a reaction to the sanitary crisis with the aim of federating the actors of the visual arts world in the South of France into a united and supportive network. Museums, Art centers, private foundations, artists' residences, exhibition spaces in wine estates, historical monuments or remarkable gardens...

From 45 members the first year, the Plein Sud network now includes 66 places dedicated to contemporary artistic creation throughout the territory.

Abbaye du Thoronet

Built between 1160 and 1230, the Thoronet Abbey is, with Silvacane and Sénanque, one of the three Cistercian abbeys of Provence. A masterpiece in danger after the Revolution, its restoration began in 1841.

The purity and simplicity of the volumes, essentially dictated by the organization of community life, inspired generations of architects. Le Corbusier visited the site in 1953: “At the time of” raw concrete “, blessed, welcome and greeted, during the journey, such an admirable meeting. »
